The FEI has changed the rules for the Global Champions Tour series 2012.

This is based on their general assembly in Rio de Janeiro in November 2011.

It means that only 50% of the GCT competitions will count for points for the overall classification.

In the past all GCT competitions were counted, so that the rider who gained most of the points became the overall winner and could win the €300.000 prize money.

The new rule was necessary because dates of the GCT events and the Nations Cups events clashed.
